2-1-1 Texas Assistance Program
2-1-1 Texas, named for the service provided by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, is so named because you can reach the service by simply dialing "211" within the state. 2-1-1 Texas offers Texas citizens learn about various assistance and benefits services provided by the state, and get them connected to the services they need most. You can reach the service by phone or by Internet. Visit the 2-1-1 Texas website to learn more.
Note that if you dial 2-1-1 directly and cannot reach the service, you can use the alternate toll-free number to get in touch with the service center. The toll-free number is 1-877-541-7905. You'll need to use the toll-free number if you live outside of Texas but are trying to learn more about services for Texans, if you're dialing from certain systems not equipped to handle the local 2-1-1 dialing, or if you cell phone is using a tower in a neighboring state.
