This guide has no contact form, and it cannot see or change your unemployment claim or your Unemployment Benefits Services (UBS) account. For help with a claim, contact the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) online or by phone.

Get help with your claim

Log on to UBS, TWC's free online system, to request payment, check your claim status and payment history, view the status of an appeal, change how you are paid, or update your mailing address. Going online is generally faster than calling, TWC says.

By phone, you can call:

• Tele-Serv, TWC's automated phone system, at 800-558-8321, to request payment, check your claim status and payment history, get your 1099-G tax information, request your waiting week, or set up or change your PIN; or
• the Tele-Center at 800-939-6631 during regular business hours, to speak with a customer service representative.

Texas unemployment offices lists more phone numbers, such as TWC's lines for an overpayment or an appeal and U.S. Bank's line for your debit card, along with when to call the Tele-Center and its language help.

Ask TWC a question online

Submit a Contact Request on TWC's site to have someone from TWC contact you. TWC points claimants to the form for any question about a claim, including why you were overpaid or a correction your claim needs. If your UBS account is giving you trouble, send the TWC Help Desk a Contact Request rather than opening a second account.

TWC also takes some questions by email:

• The status of your appeal: appeals.status@twc.texas.gov
• The status of a Commission appeal: commission.appeals@twc.texas.gov
• Repaying an overpayment, and nothing else: special.colloverpay@twc.texas.gov

Report a claim filed in your name

If someone applied for Texas unemployment benefits with your Social Security number, or changed your claim without your permission, report it on TWC's secure online fraud portal. TWC takes these reports only through the portal, and it does not accept them by phone, by email, or without your name. One report is enough, and TWC gets in touch only if it needs more information from you. If the claim was filed in another state, report it to that state instead.

TWC also suggests protecting your identity in these ways:

• Ask each credit bureau to place a free fraud alert on your credit report, and to freeze your credit if needed: Equifax at 800-349-9960, Experian at 888-397-3742, and TransUnion at 888-909-8872.
• If you think someone stole your Social Security number, contact Social Security at 800-269-0271, or by fax at 410-597-0118.

Before you give personal details to anyone who says they are from TWC, check what a TWC specialist never asks for.

Report someone collecting benefits fraudulently

If you suspect someone is fraudulently receiving unemployment benefits, such as a person working full time or in jail while collecting, report it in either of these ways:

• Download the Unemployment Benefits Fraud Report form from TWC's fraud reporting page, fill it out, and upload it through the same fraud portal.
• Call the Fraud Hotline at 800-252-3642 to make an anonymous report. TWC still documents your caller ID and anything you say on the call.
